Basketball Recap: Kettle Falls Skates Past Chewelah with Ease

Kettle Falls won the last time they faced Chewelah and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Kettle Falls Bulldogs claimed a resounding 65-10 victory over the Chewelah Cougars. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Cougars are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Kettle Falls to victory were Ella Johnson and Wyn Edwards. Johnson almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, while Edwards almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 11 boards, and nine steals. Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryenna Pfeffer, who posted eight points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

Kettle Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 22 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Kettle Falls' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points per game. As for Chewelah, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Kettle Falls has already played their next contest, a 52-30 victory against Medical Lake on the 18th. As for Chewelah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-12 defeat against St. George's on the 17th.
