Softball Game Preview: Normal University Pioneers vs. Normal Community Ironmen

The Normal University Pioneers will take on the Normal Community Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Normal University is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 11-3 to Glenwood.

Nicole Ekhoff was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Meera Sundaram was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Normal Community's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against Glenwood, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Ironmen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Normal Community saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Mack, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Normal University's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Normal Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Everything went Normal University's way against Normal Community in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Normal University made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Ironmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
