Basketball Game Preview: Deer Park Deer vs. Clear Creek Wildcats

The Deer Park Deer will venture away from home to face off against the Clear Creek Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Park will be strutting in after a win while Clear Creek will be coming in after a loss.

Deer Park is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Clear Falls: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Deer Park blew Clear Falls out of the water with a 57-30 final score. The Deer pushed the score to 41-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deer Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Harms, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Those 15 points gave Harms a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Tortorici, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Clear Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dickinson by a score of 65-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since November 8, 2024.

Deer Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Clear Creek, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-5.

Things could have been worse for Deer Park, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-26 loss to Clear Creek when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Deer Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
