Football Recap: Wilson Starts Season with Win Against Grant

Wilson had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They really took it to the Grant Lancers for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-0 win. For the Mules, this counts as revenge for the 29-25 victory the Lancers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Adrian Anaya had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 108 yards and two scores on only ten carries. Jacob Gillis was another key rusher, rushing for 58 yards and one touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gillis, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Wilson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Helio Lopez and Izaiah Novelo.

Coming up, Wilson will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Bosco Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grant, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Los Angeles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
