Basketball Game Preview: Pickett County Bobcats vs. Clarkrange Buffaloes

Pickett County is a perfect 10-0 against Clarkrange since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pickett County Bobcats will square off against the Clarkrange Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Pickett County challenged Gordonsville last Tuesday. Pickett County took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gordonsville. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bobcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Tigers are ranked 209th).

Meanwhile, Clarkrange blew past Red Boiling Springs, posting a 69-35 victory. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Clarkrange's win came from a few key players Pickett County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryton Swallows, who went 8-for-11 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Sears, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 14 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Clarkrange's win bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Pickett County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 19-6.

Everything came up roses for Pickett County against Clarkrange in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the team secured an 81-35 victory. Will Pickett County repeat their success, or does Clarkrange have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
