Softball Recap: Capac Chiefs vs. Memphis Yellowjackets
Capac extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 27 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-25. They lost 12-1 to the Memphis Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-3 loss back in April.
Capac saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dellah R, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That hit was R's first of the season.
As for Memphis, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-18. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Memphis' side, Aubrey Barnowski was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Barnowski has posted since May 5th. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellycia LaFontaine, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Serefin, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
As of now, neither Capac nor Memphis have any future games scheduled.
