Basketball Recap: Marist Skates Past Northview with Ease

Marist waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 84-37 victory over the Northview Titans. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Walsh, who went 7 of 12 to rack up 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Harpring, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Marist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Marist's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points over those games. As for Northview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

Marist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-29 victory against Lithonia on the 7th. As for Northview, they have also already played their next contest, an 83-45 defeat against St. Pius X Catholic on the 7th.
