Preview: Ferndale Eagles vs. Novi Wildcats
Having just played yesterday, the Ferndale Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Novi Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ferndale has five straight wins, Novi has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ferndale put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Avondale as Ferndale made off with a 66-44 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ferndale has posted since December 7, 2023.
Ferndale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Iyanna Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 26 rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Janiya Larry was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Novi was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 50-44 to Salem. While losing is never fun, Novi can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Salem is ranked 44th).
Ferndale's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Novi, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
