Baseball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. Polo Marcos

The West Carroll Thunder will challenge the Polo Marcos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for West Carroll and six for Polo dating back to last season.

West Carroll came up short against Durand/Pecatonica on Friday, falling 8-2.

Caleb Herpstreith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Polo scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 13-8 to Hinckley-Big Rock.

Aiden Messer put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Dawson Foster was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5. Gage Zeigler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Polo's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
