Softball Recap: T.C. Roberson Takes a Loss

T.C. Roberson had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it six. They came up short against the North Buncombe Black Hawks, falling 11-1. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Black Hawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for North Buncombe, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

For North Buncombe's part, Sadie Jo Hunter made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Hunter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elly Wright, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Clark, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. T.C. Roberson will square off against Pigeon Forge at 12:00 p.m. on the 11th. As for North Buncombe, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against A.C. Reynolds at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
