Baseball Recap: Jeremiah Segraves' Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Potomac over Lake Braddock

West Potomac fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lake Braddock on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Bruins, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolverines' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Bennett Winkelfoos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because West Potomac is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-10 otherwise.

At the plate, West Potomac saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Segraves, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

West Potomac has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Lake Braddock, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
