Softball Preview: Mason Comets vs. Centerville Elks
The Mason Comets will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Centerville Elks at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mason is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Beavercreek.
Meanwhile, Centerville can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Everything went their way against Western Brown as Centerville made off with a 12-3 victory. Winning may never get old, but Centerville sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Ardyn Hopf was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, seven RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Carr, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, a triple, and two RBI.
The win got Mason back to even at 5-5. As for Centerville, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-4.
Mason beat Centerville 6-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mason since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
