Basketball Recap: Newton-Conover Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

West Caldwell came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Newton-Conover, but Bryce Mitchell wouldn't allow it. The Newton-Conover Red Devils came out on top against the West Caldwell Warriors by a score of 67-59 on Friday thanks in part to Mitchell, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Braxton Eckard, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and three blocks. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points.

West Caldwell lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zion Thomas, who earned 14 points and four steals. Jay Maxwell was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Newton-Conover has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for West Caldwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Newton-Conover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-43 loss against Lincolnton on the 28th. As for West Caldwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-51 win against Bunker Hill on the 28th.
