Basketball Recap: Skyline Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Macy Marlow and Shay Shippen

After flying high against Uintah on Thursday, Skyline came back down to earth. The Skyline Grizzlies took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mead Mavericks. The Grizzlies' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Skyline's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shay Shippen, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, and Macy Marlow, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 19 points and six steals. The match was Shippen's 26th in a row with at least ten points.

Mead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darby Haley out in front who went 6 of 10 on her way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Gomez, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Mead, their record is now 9-1.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-47 victory against Sandpoint on the 4th. As for Mead, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-51 defeat against Hillcrest on the 4th.
