Basketball Game Preview: Palisades Pumas vs. Olympic Trojans

The Palisades Pumas will take on the Olympic Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Olympic is facing Palisades at the wrong time: Palisades suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell to the Sabres 72-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (62), the Pumas still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Olympic strolled past Ballantyne Ridge with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-56. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Wolves are ranked 585th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olympic pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Palisades, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-7.

Palisades was able to grind out a solid victory over Olympic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 52-43. Will Palisades repeat their success, or does Olympic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
