Volleyball Recap: Southwest Eagles vs. Seminole Ridge Hawks
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southwest had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Seminole Ridge Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 5th.
Southwest took Seminole Ridge into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 16-25, 15-10.
Despite the loss, Seminole Ridge saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evan Holowecky had ten digs, two blocks, and two aces. Holowecky is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.
Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. As for Seminole Ridge, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 23-7 record.
Southwest has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Winter Park on the 17th. Seminole Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
