The Bolsa Grande Matadors will take on the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bolsa Grande has four straight victories, Rancho Alamitos has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Bolsa Grande beat Magnolia 11-6.
Julian Mendoza and Tank Britton were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mendoza pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Britton didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Mendoza a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Mendoza scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Britton scored a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Geoffrey Guerrero and Mikey Haley Jr. did most of the damage at the plate: Guerrero scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Haley Jr. scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Guerrero a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Junior Rizo, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Bolsa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Rancho Alamitos came up short against Loara on Friday, falling 15-8.
Matthew Arguelles made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Labossiere, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Bolsa Grande's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Rancho Alamitos, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Rancho Alamitos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bolsa Grande has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .510. It's a different story for Rancho Alamitos, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Bolsa Grande's hitters?
