Basketball Recap: Smyrna Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home + How To Watch

After flying high against Sussex Central on Tuesday, Smyrna came back down to earth. The Eagles took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caravel Academy Buccaneers on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Smyrna's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Caravel Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Smyrna will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Odessa at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Caravel Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on St. Elizabeth at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
