Softball Game Preview: Northeastern Jets vs. West Liberty-Salem Tigers

For the second straight game, Northeastern will face off against West Liberty-Salem. The Jets are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Northeastern needed a bit of extra time to put away West Liberty-Salem. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Tigers. The Jets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Renna Kelly spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Laney Phillips was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Northeastern's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for West Liberty-Salem, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
