Baseball Recap: West Branch Comes Up Short

West Branch blew Moshannon Valley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Moshannon Valley got their revenge. The Warriors fell just short of the Black Knights/Damsels by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly two runs.

West Branch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Esposti, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Coby Kephart was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for West Branch and nudges their season record down to 11-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Moshannon Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

West Branch will take on Harmony Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will square off against Rockwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Black Knights/Damsels surely won't give up without a fight.
