Soccer Game Preview: Steele Canyon vs. Monte Vista

Steele Canyon and Monte Vista are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Steele Canyon Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Monte Vista Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Steele Canyon's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Santana. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista entered their tilt with Sweetwater on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 2-0. That's two games straight that the Monarchs have won by exactly two goals.

Daniel Baca and Benjamin Salazar scored both of Monte Vista's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Steele Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four games. As for Monte Vista, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6-4.

Steele Canyon took their win against Monte Vista when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steele Canyon since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
