Softball Recap: Coastal Academy Comes Up Short

If Coastal Academy was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Bishop's on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stingrays took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the El Camino Wildcats on Friday. The Stingrays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Therese Frazer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mikenzie Trevino was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coastal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for El Camino, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coastal Academy has already played their next game, a 7-3 victory against San Dieguito Academy on the 23rd. As for El Camino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-0 win against Vista on the 15th.
