Baseball Game Preview: Glendale Prep Academy Griffins vs. Veritas Prep Falcons

The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins will face off against the Veritas Prep Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Glendale Prep Academy is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Tempe Prep a 15-0 shutout.

Logan Middendorf was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Middendorf was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Corbin Kim and Alex Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Kim scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Rodriguez scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Joshua Rickey, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Veritas Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out Gilbert Classical Academy 1-0 on Thursday.

Veritas Prep's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Cortes, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Glendale Prep Academy couldn't quite finish off Veritas Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Glendale Prep Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
