Basketball Recap: St. Francis Has No Trouble Against Catholic Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shoreland Lutheran, St. Francis was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Catholic Central Hilltoppers 72-49. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Cameron Nerby was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Green, who went 8 of 14 en route to 16 points.

St. Francis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

St. Francis' victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Catholic Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Francis will challenge Lake Country Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Lake Country Lutheran's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Catholic Central, they will venture away from home to take on Kingdom Prep Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
