Plainfield South is a perfect 10-0 against Romeoville since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Saturday, Plainfield South needed a bit of extra time to put away Naperville North. They blew past the Huskies 18-11. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Romeoville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Thornton Fractional South a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spartans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lillian Roberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those nine RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delany Giacomo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Siari Alcaraz also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Romeoville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

The win got Plainfield South back to even at 5-5. As for Romeoville, their record is now 2-4.

Plainfield South took their victory against Romeoville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
