Softball Recap: Seneca Has No Trouble Against Lenape

Seneca lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lenape, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 17-11 margin over the Indians on Thursday. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Seneca got a massive performance out of Emily Buddendorf, who went 5-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave Buddendorf a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Heller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Seneca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Seneca has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lenape, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Coincidentally, Seneca and Lenape will both be playing Paul VI the next time they take the field. The Indians will head out to face the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Eagles will host them on Monday.
