Basketball Game Preview: Marriotts Ridge vs. Wilde Lake Wildecats

Marriotts Ridge are taking a road trip to square off against the Wilde Lake Wildecats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Marriotts Ridge came up short against Poly and fell 60-53. Marriotts Ridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Marriotts Ridge had strong showings from Restia Whitaker, who posted 26 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, and Aaron Hammann, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most steals Whitaker has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahul Jampan, who earned four points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Wilde Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 68-58 victory over the Eagles.

Wilde Lake is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points per game. As for Marriotts Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Marriotts Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Wilde Lake when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 60-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marriotts Ridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
