Recap: South Charleston Black Eagles vs. Hurricane Redskins
This season hasn't been kind to The South Charleston Black Eagles, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 89-7 defeat at the hands of Hurricane on Friday. South Charleston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 69-0.
Noah Vellaithambi was a one-man wrecking crew for Hurricane as he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 40 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Vellaithambi was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Taylor, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Hurricane's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. South Charleston's QB won't forget Aaron Clark anytime soon given Clark sacked him ten times.
South Charleston's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Huntington and 8-3 Spring Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.6% over those games). As for Hurricane, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
South Charleston will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Capital is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Hurricane, they will head out on the road to face off against Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Huntington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
