Soccer Game Preview: Birch Run vs. Durand

The Birch Run Panthers will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Durand Railroaders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Birch Run is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Frankenmuth on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for Birch Run in their meetings with Frankenmuth: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Durand fell victim to Clio and their airtight defense last Wednesday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 8-0. That's two games in a row now that Durand have lost by exactly eight goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Durand and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Birch Run, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Birch Run's way against Durand in their previous matchup back in May of 2016, as Birch Run made off with a 9-1 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Railroaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
