Softball Recap: Quaker Valley Takes a Loss

Quaker Valley fell victim to Ellwood City and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Wolverine. The Quakers haven't had much luck with the Wolverine recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Quaker Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Carver, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Carver is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Berlynn Sopko also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Quaker Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ellwood City, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Quaker Valley will square off against Hopewell at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Quakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Ellwood City, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against New Castle at 7:00 p.m. on May 6.
