Preview: Wheatland-Chili Wildcats vs. Attica Blue Devils

Wheatland-Chili and Attica are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Wheatland-Chili Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Attica Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wheatland-Chili has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Last Friday, Wheatland-Chili didn't have too much trouble with Byron-Bergen at home as they won 61-45.

Wheatland-Chili got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leighton Williams out in front who scored 24 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Wheatland-Chili's points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Schwenebraten, who scored 20 points.

Even though Attica has not done well against Wellsville recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Attica secured a 52-48 W over Wellsville.

Wheatland-Chili's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Attica, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went Wheatland-Chili's way against Attica in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Wheatland-Chili made off with a 70-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheatland-Chili since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
