Baseball Game Preview: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Exeter Monarchs

The Tranquillity Tigers will square off against the Exeter Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tranquillity has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 19 straight defeats, while Exeter will come in with four straight wins.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Tranquillity's offense. They lost 15-0 to Woodlake on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Exeter made easy work of Corcoran on Tuesday and carried off a 12-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Molina and Tyler Trimble did most of the damage at the plate: Molina went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Trimble scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Molina a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cade McElmoyl, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Exeter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Exeter's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.3 runs. As for Tranquillity, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
