Baseball Recap: Royal's Winning Streak Snapped at 12 Games

It was a good run, but Royal unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the El Segundo Eagles by a score of 7-6. The Highlanders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2017.

Royal got a good showing from Jonah Thompson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Thompson gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Ethan Hall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Peyton Visage, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Royal's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for El Segundo, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Royal will welcome San Marino at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Royal 1.8, San Marino 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for El Segundo, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 6:00 p.m. El Segundo's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wiseburn- Da Vinci has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
