Football Game Preview: Overton Mustangs vs. Goldthwaite Eagles + How To Watch

The Overton Mustangs will square off against the Goldthwaite Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Overton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They breezed past West Sabine to the tune of 49-20. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than 26 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylan Holleman and Gabriel Miller were among the main playmakers for Overton as the former rushed for 181 yards and five scores on only 12 carries and the latter rushed for 160 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Miller has posted since back in August.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Overton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. They rushed for 121 more rushing yards than West Sabine's also-impressive total of 283.

Meanwhile, Goldthwaite had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 36-34.

Overton's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Goldthwaite, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
