Overton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 67-22 victory over the Axtell Wildcats. The Eagles pushed the score to 47-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had no chance of recovering from.

Overton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Luther, who threw for 109 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 33 yards and a pair of scores.
