Preview: Brentwood Bruins vs. Cascade Champions

Brentwood has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Cascade Champions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brentwood is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cascade in Tennessee (Brentwood is ranked 35th, while Cascade is ranked 222nd).

Brentwood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 82-38 win over Springfield at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-23.

Brentwood can attribute much of their success to Ella Ward, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists, and Ella Ryan, who scored 23 points along with 5 steals. The matchup was Ryan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Morris, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Cascade came up short against Moore County on Friday and fell 43-33. Cascade has struggled against Moore County recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Cascade had strong showings from Sophie Ray, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds, and Kaegan Young, who scored 13 points. Young scored a full 39.4% of Cascade's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Brentwood has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 5-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Cascade, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Brentwood have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 41.5% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Cascade, though, as they've only made 36.8% of theirs this season. Given Brentwood's sizeable advantage in that area, Cascade will need to find a way to close that gap.
