Softball Recap: Homestead Beats Gunn for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Homestead extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-4 in the process. They came out on top against the Gunn Titans by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-9 back in April.

Cierra Hagan and Izzy Gutierrez did most of the damage at the plate: Hagan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Gutierrez went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Gutierrez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leela Menon, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Gunn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

On Gunn's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Fitzhugh, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Homestead is set to take on their familiar foe Milpitas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gunn will square off against rival Los Altos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
