Preview: Tempe Buffaloes vs. Vista Grande Spartans
Tempe is 3-0 against Vista Grande since December of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Tempe Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Vista Grande Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Tempe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Coronado by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Tempe has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nassir Cobbs, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Irizarry-Navarro, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Vista Grande posted their biggest win since November 24, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Apache Junction on the road to the tune of 71-37.
Tempe has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Vista Grande, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14.
Tempe didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Vista Grande in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win.
