Softball Recap: Douglas Byrd Takes a Loss

Douglas Byrd dropped down to 4-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the South View Tigers, falling 18-0. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Tigers' pitcher proved too tough.

As for South View, their record is now 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by nine runs or more this season.

For South View's part, JORDYNN PARNELL made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). PARNELL has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, South View got a massive performance out of AUDREY FLORES, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave FLORES a new career-high. CAILEY SPENCE was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, South View will be playing at home against Terry Sanford at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglas Byrd will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' contest: after the Tigers face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Douglas Byrd again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
