Soccer Game Preview: South Elgin vs. Larkin

The South Elgin Storm will take on the Larkin Royals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

South Elgin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand DeKalb a 6-0 shutout. Considering South Elgin have won eight matchups by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit DeKalb with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jacob Buthman (2), Pelon Munoz (2), Matthew Lipp, and Momo Gonzalez.

Larkin hadn't beaten Elgin on the road since October 9, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Royals put the hurt on the Maroons with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Larkin.

Larkin now has a winning record of 9-8-3. As for South Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3-1.

South Elgin was able to grind out a solid win over Larkin in their previous matchup back in September, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
