Soccer Preview: South Caldwell vs. Watauga        
        
		
             South Caldwell is 0-10 against Watauga since September of 2019 but things could change  on Monday. The South Caldwell Spartans are taking a road trip to  challenge the Watauga Pioneers  at 6:00  p.m. Both come into the  contest bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 South Caldwell and Freedom met for a duel  on Wednesday where South Caldwell came out on top. South Caldwell never let Freedom onto the board and left with  a   1-0  victory. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
 Their one-goal win came courtesy of 
 Pedro Guevara, who's now up to 18 this season.
 Meanwhile, Watauga entered their tilt with Ashe County on Thursday with seven consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with  a   3-1  victory over the Huskies. Given the Pioneers' advantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings  (they are ranked 39th, while the Huskies are ranked 262nd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 South Caldwell now  has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Watauga, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won 12 of their last 15 matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-3-2 record  this season.
 South Caldwell came up short against Watauga in their previous meeting  back in October of 2023, falling  3-1. Can South Caldwell avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
