Baseball Recap: Gloucester Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Gloucester came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Heritage Hurricanes as they made off with an 18-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Dukes, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Gloucester got a massive performance out of Jackson Harbough, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Harbough a new career-high. Jesse Jackson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gloucester kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive contests.

Gloucester's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Heritage, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gloucester beat the Hurricanes by a score of 17-1 later that day.
