Baseball Recap: Arroyo Grande Comes Up Short

Arroyo Grande extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Quinta Blackhawks. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.

Ruben Servin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tane Kurth, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for La Quinta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

On La Quinta's side, Cash Sutton was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Carlos Guzman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Arroyo Grande has already played their next contest, a 4-4 draw against El Capitan on the 26th. As for La Quinta, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-4 defeat against Turlock on the 26th.
