Basketball Game Preview: NOVA Academy Eagles vs. Magnolia Science Academy Pirates

The NOVA Academy Eagles will challenge the Magnolia Science Academy Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, it was close, but NOVA Academy sidestepped Calvary Chapel for a 50-48 win.

Meanwhile, Magnolia Science Academy didn't have too much trouble with Liberty Christian on Tuesday as they won 67-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Magnolia Science Academy found their leader in freshman Devin Gonzales, who posted 27 points. Another player making a difference was Tobi Bamidele, who had 15 points and five boards.

Magnolia Science Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for NOVA Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.

NOVA Academy suffered a grim 69-44 defeat to Magnolia Science Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gonzales, who almost dropped a double-double on 38 points and nine steals.
