Baseball Recap: Minnetonka Starts Season with Victory Against Edina

Minnetonka gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Edina Hornets. That's more bragging rights for the Skippers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Juliam Lunzer looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Wheeler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Gus Berger was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Edina now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Minnetonka is set to challenge their familiar foe Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Edina will square off against rival St. Michael-Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
