Volleyball Recap: Holmes Falls Short Against Ranked Perquimans

Holmes faced Perquimans in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Aces lost 3-0 to the Pirates. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Holmes was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

SarahLogan Cobb paced Holmes' offense, picking up 13 kills. Cobb got some help from Harper Evans and her 20 assists.

Hayleigh Solesbee was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 12 digs and three aces. Those 12 digs gave her a new career-high.

Holmes dropped their record down to 21-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Perquimans, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holmes will welcome East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perquimans, they will be playing at home against Lejeune at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
