Baseball Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss

Mercer Island was the 5-3 winner over Liberty when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Islanders fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Koehler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Mercer Island saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Nguyen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that Nguyen snagged this season.

Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Liberty, they moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Mercer Island didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-0 loss against Mount Si on the 4th. As for Liberty, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Hazen on the 4th.
