Softball Preview: King William Cavaliers vs. Mathews Blue Devils

King William has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, they and the Mathews Blue Devils will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Two weeks ago, while King William put up some runs, the same can't be said for Greenbrier Christian Academy. King William sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Greenbrier Christian Academy. Despite the win, that was the fewest runs King William has scored all year.

Meanwhile, sadly, Mathews is still looking for their first win of the season after six matches. They suffered a tough 13-2 defeat at the hands of Westmoreland last Friday.

King William pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs per game. As for Mathews, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4-2.
