Basketball Recap: Gibault Catholic Falls Short of Waltonville in the Playoffs

Gibault Catholic and Waltonville squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Gibault Catholic had to settle for second. They came up short against the Waltonville Spartans, falling 64-41. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.

Gage Peterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Waltonville, dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. Peterson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 19 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kyle Cooper, who posted 12 points and six assists.

Gibault Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-23 record this season. Waltonville's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-4.
