Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Central Catholic Triumphs

St. Bernard's Central Catholic won the last time they faced Narragansett Regional and things went their way on Friday too. The Bernardians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bernardians.

Jonathan Quigley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for St. Bernard's Central Catholic: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Quigley was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Angelo Barry was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Austin Gibbons was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Narragansett Regional, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Narragansett Regional will square off against West Boylston at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Bernard's Central Catholic will be paying especially close attention to the Warriors' matchup: after the Warriors face off against the Lions, they'll take on St. Bernard's Central Catholic again at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
